Canada Day, A Day of Reflection

'Canada Day is not canceled. Canada Day is a day to celebrate and will be again. But right now, so early in reconciliation, it is also a time of reflection.' - Robert-Falcon Ouellette

Canada Day is not canceled. Canada Day is a day to celebrate and will be again. But right now, so early in reconciliation, it is also a time of reflection.

Canada Day brings people from all walks of life together; Canadians who have lived here for generations, newcomer Canadians, Indigenous Canadians and French Canadians.

You can still celebrate Canada Day. But please take a moment to think about the Canada we want for ourselves and our children.

I often remind myself of the seven generations teaching. That we should govern ourselves, our actions and decisions thinking of future generations. And to reflect on the generation that came before us.

Canada Day is not canceled. And it is more than just Canada’s birthday. It is a day of reflection.

Thank you. Merci. Ekosani, tapwe akwa khitwam.
